Zeer Pot Fridge: Simple Solution for Blackouts and Brownouts

The summer heat caused rolling blackouts in Detroit and is stressing the grid in many states. Via Survival Blog comes this nifty idea that is essentially a portable mini-root cellar that will save some of that food from going bad when the power is out. All that you need to make a “Zeer Pot” is clay pots of different sizes, some duct tape to plug the holes and sand. All these things can be found on Amazon by the way.

If the power is out temporarily this little set up can keep vegetables fresh and meat and dairy from spoiling. The video is not what you would call scintillating but it is a good step by step look at the process and should guide you through creating your own.
