Baboon on the Loose in New Jersey!

They think the animal escaped from a zoo. Baboons are dangerous so hopefully this doesn’t get out of hand:

JACKSON, NJ (PIX11)— Jackson residents are being warned of a large baboon on the loose in their neighborhood.

There have now been two sightings — one woman, who lives on Anderson St., called police at 2 p.m. Thursday and said, “There is a baboon on my deck,” NJ.com reported. The call came in just fifteen minutes after a driver reportedly saw the scarlet-bottomed baboon roamingh near Interstate I95.

It is suspected that the baboon managed to escape from the Six Flags Great Adventure’s Monkey Jungle, home to 150 of the animals. Although they are implanted with micro chips, park officials were unable to immediately confirm whether or not it was one of theirs because the baboons are not counted daily.

The primates are the largest in the monkey family and have a dog-like muzzle. Male baboons have sharp, 2-inch canines — roughly the same length as a lion’s canines.

Baboons are not generally aggressive, but residents are urged not to come close to the animal if they see it. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (732) 928-1111.

Not generally aggressive? Tell that to this woman who was carjacked and stripped by baboons. Watch your tube tops ladies!
